Re-Inventing the Lifecycle of a
Printed Circuit Board
Graphene oxide decays in water into weakly acidic organic fragments (humic acid), a constituent of peat bogs.
Graphene oxide offers a superior sustainable alternative to the fiber-glass substrate traditionally used in printed circuit boards. Its water-dispersible properties make it possible to submerge end-of-life PCBs in water, recovering all non-dissolvable components for reuse or recycling.
Once components are recovered, the dispersed graphene oxide can be safely disposed without the need for toxic chemical treatment or incineration.

Graphene oxide's humidity absorption and desorption characteristics allow for the creation of low-power, self-charging batteries.
